On February 13, Korea University Sejong Campus LINC 3.0 Foundation and the ICC Central Center successfully completed the research and business joint technology development support project for 2024 Sejong City R&D future strategic industry.
The project aimed to promote mutual growth and enhance technological competitiveness by supporting new industry-oriented research and development (R&D) and research and business linked joint research (R&BD) through close cooperation between companies and the university.
In its third year, the project focused on specialized fields of LINC 3.0, such as AI-ESG innovative technologies, smart convergence biohealth, and global hyperconnectivity, as well as Sejong's future strategic industries (5+1 fields) including information security, quantum technology, future mobility, broadcasting·video·media, digital content, and digital healthcare. Five tasks were selected and have been promoted since August 2024.
The selected tasks included the ‘Development of a biometric authentication system based on resting-state electromyography and inertial measurement devices’ by Professor Han Changhee from the Department of Electronics and Information Engineering in collaboration with ILiasAI, the ‘Development of an AI-based personalized diet and functional health supplement recommendation service for optimal micronutrient intake’ by Professor Hong Jiyeon from the Department of Food and Biotechnology in partnership with Farmkit, the ‘Development of an automated module and management system for energy performance indicators using artificial intelligence’ by Professor Kim Seungyeon from the Department of Computer Convergence Software in collaboration with Kuchi, the ‘Development of an intelligent wind turbine fault detection method for AI-ESG’ by Professor Lee Hyungeun from the Department of AI Semiconductor Engineering in cooperation with CPX SYSTEMS, and the ‘Development of a biometric authentication system based on resting-state electromyography and inertial measurement devices’ by Professor Hwang Hanjeong from the Department of Electronics and Information Engineering in partnership with Motion DT.
Through these tasks, the Sejong LINC 3.0 Foundation achieved various outcomes in research and business cooperation, including five technology transfers, patent applications, copyright registrations, on-site training, and employee education. Key factors behind these achievements included conducting agreement ceremonies and briefings for each task, enhancing project execution understanding through close management, and creating an efficient research environment.
This research and business joint technology development support project served as an opportunity to support the development of core technologies for Sejong City's 5+1 future strategic industries and to continue expanding collaborative achievements between the university and industries. Korea University Sejong LINC 3.0 Foundation plans to further contribute to regional industrial development and accelerate technological innovation through collaboration between the university and companies.
Director Yoo Jaehyun stated, “This project has become an important milestone in achieving mutual development between companies and the university. I am pleased that we were able to strengthen the competitiveness of Sejong regional industries and create sustainable results for future strategic industries. We will continue to strive for coexistence with local industries and build a successful model of research and business cooperation.”
