On February 8, the Department of Biotechnology & Bioinformatics at Korea University Sejong Campus hosted the ‘International Capstone Open Lab Interim Report’ in the Research and Business Cooperation Building. This report session aimed to explore innovations in biohealth and sustainable health management from a global perspective and to discuss integrative solutions for addressing both local community and global health issues.
The event was attended by Professor Baek Seungpil from the Department of Biotechnology & Bioinformatics, Research Professor Min Kiha from the Institute of Industrial Technology, four mentors, and approximately 50 undergraduate students participating in the experiments. Attendees shared innovative ideas for the biohealth industry and healthcare management systems, and they discussed the importance of sleep health and future practical approaches based on experimental results.
In this Open Lab, undergraduate students took the lead in various activities, such as collecting health management data through Mi Band usage and implementing intermittent fasting for sleep health management. Through these experiences, students gained practical and systematic learning opportunities while fostering creative thinking necessary for addressing global health challenges.
The event was jointly organized by the Department of Biotechnology & Bioinformatics and the Biological Clock-based Anti-Aging Convergence Regional-Leading Research Center (BCA2-RLRC), with support from the Regional University Revitalization Project.
