Notice on the Student-Designed Major Application for the 2nd Semester of 2025
※ In accordance with University Regulations (Article 35 of Chapter 4, Student-Designed Major; Chapter 6 of the Academic Regulations; and the Student-Designed Major Operational Guidelines)
Students who complete a self-designed curriculum under the guidance of a faculty advisor—incorporating courses from at least three departments and a minimum of 36 credits in major-related coursework—will be awarded a second major upon graduation.
1. Eligibility
A. Students who have been assigned to their first major and are enrolled in the first semester of 2025, with at least: 3 semesters of enrollment (or 2 semesters for transfer students)
B. Students on a leave of absence or on exchange during the application semester are not eligible to apply
2. Application Period: From Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at 10:00 AM - Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at 5:00 PM
3. Submission Location: Submit to the administrative office of your affiliated department or major

C. List of Courses for Student-Designed Major
D. Consent Form for Course Structure (Required for newly established majors)
E. Minutes of the Student-Designed Major Committee Meeting (refer to Section 5 for details)
F. Academic Transcript (highlight courses relevant to the proposed major)
5. Application Method
A. For New Student-Designed Major Applicants
1) Request a consultation with the head of your department and be assigned a faculty advisor
2) Design your own curriculum under the advisor's guidance and prepare all required documents
3) Submit the documents to the administrative office of your department/major.

B. For Existing Student-Designed Majors
1) Contact the managing college of the major to confirm application details and required documents.
2) Submit all documents to your department/major administrative office.

6. Announcement of Results: Monday, June 16, 2025, at 5:00 PM (to be posted on the KU Portal → Bulletin Board → Notices → Undergraduate Schedule)
7. Notes
A. For students admitted in or after 2004, it is mandatory to complete at least one of the following: Intensive Major, Double Major, Interdisciplinary Major, Student-Designed Major
(This does not apply to academic transfer students)
B. Students who have already been accepted into a second major and wish to reapply must forfeit their previous acceptance; reapplication is allowed only once, and if rejected, the student must complete an intensive major
C. The intensive major is similar to the previous single-major system
D. Successful applicants must maintain eligibility through the semester and follow required procedures (enrollment, course approval, registration, etc.) to begin the second major in the next semester
E. Students who take a leave of absence after acceptance (during the same semester) will have their acceptance revoked
